Salts from the Dead Sea are still, and throughout history have been, recommended by doctors the world over for such conditions as chronic and severe back pain, muscles aches, osteo arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, rheumatism of soft tissue, psoriasis and other skin, bone, muscle and joint ailments.  For this reason, these salts are believed to be valuable in the treatment of certain diseases, and are used in the best, most prestigious health spas and resorts located around the globe.  These fantastic, unique, natural salts are blended with other precious therapeutic natural salts in our Spasome Salts of the World Mineral Body Soaks to enjoy and use in the comforts of your own bath oasis.

The Dead Sea is one of the saltiest bodies of water in the world, second to only Lake Asal (Djibouti) in Africa.  Because of its high salinity no animals or fish can live in it, thus deriving its name - Dead Sea.  The total salt concentration in the Dead Sea is almost ten times higher than ocean water, and contains large quantities of minerals needed for life on Earth.  The water is about 35% solid matter and a person can easily float on the surface.  Some of these beneficial minerals include sodium (tones nervous system and maintains normal fluid balance in the body), potassium (moisturizes skin and invigorates & energizes the body), calcium (increases circulation), magnesium (calms the nervous system, combats fluid retention and deters aging of the skin), chlorides, sulfates and bromides (relaxes muscles & eases tension and stiffness).

The Dead Sea is the world’s deepest hyper-saline lake at 330m/1083ft. and the lowest point on Earth (not covered by ice) at 418m/1371ft. below sea level and dropping.  The Dead Sea covers approximately four hundred square miles (67 km/42 miles long and 18 km/11 miles at its widest point), and is located on the border between Israel, Jordan and the West Bank.  It is considered a protected national treasure by all, because of its widely reputed therapeutic benefits.

In the history of man, the Dead Sea goes way back to the earliest of times.  The Bible mentions the Dead Sea as the Salt Sea in its first chapter (on creation), the Book of Genesis.  The two most mentioned substances in the Bible are water and salt.  The Dead Sea was one of the world’s first health resorts, for Herod the Great and a refuge for King David.  The Queen of Sheba and King Solomon were also familiar with the medicinal value of Dead Sea Salt.  Aristotle the Greek wrote about its astonishing waters.  Queen Cleopatra highly coveted them, and the ancient Egyptians used the salts for embalming mummies, cosmetics, remedies and medicine.  Used throughout history and still used today, these incredible salts have stood the test of time.  With that kind of history, these salts must be one of best healing natural salts of the world, and that is why we use them in our Spasome Salts of the World Mineral Body Soaks and Mustard Baths.
